Our Previous Judges
Susan Bradbury
Susan Miller Bradbury is a quiet, unassuming Roanoke, Virginia native who enjoys capturing the events of life. She especially appreciates taking her memories captive and placing them on the canvas. Her greatest love is utilizing provocative lighting and/or expressive situations to capture the viewer’s heart. Susan graduated from Radford University with a BA in Graphic Arts as well as a minor in French. Later in life, she discovered a love for portraiture and went on to take classes from many well-known instructors such as Daniel Greene, Paul McCormack, Vera Dickerson, Lee Boynton and Debbie Gualco. She has illustrated several published books and is in the process of illustrating others.
Sarah K. Parcell
Sarah K. Parcell is a young artist based out of the Appalachian Mountains of Roanoke, VA. Parcell is self-taught and enjoys the freedom of learning through her experimentation with her paints. In her work, she aims to express the intense depth of our shells with sprinkles of chaos and harmony. When you see her paintings they evoke feelings of joy and sorrow, hope and despair, bliss and forgiveness, loneliness and love. Parcell wants you to feel comforted looking into the eyes of the creature, knowing that there is always hope on the other side of despair. We need this duality to exist.
Ana Morales
Ana Morales is a Roanoke-based mixed media artist. She holds a BFA in Studio Art from James Madison University and an MFA in Studio Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ana has exhibited her work locally and nationally and in 2015 she was awarded 2nd place at the Roanoke College Biennial. Ana is also an art educator and works as the Education and Design Coordinator at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, Virginia.
Alternate Judge
In the very unlikely event that one of our three main judges is prevented from fulfilling their commitment, our alternate judge, Jennifer Lawrence, will fill in.
