The competition is open to all Roanoke Valley students (public, private, and home-schooled) in grades K-12th during the 2018-2019 school year.  For the purposes of this competition Roanoke Valley refers to Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Vinton, Salem, and all areas within a 20-30 drive of Roanoke City.

All art entries must be on 12 x 12" canvas that may be picked up when entry fee is dropped off.  The entry fee for the competition is $20.  Checks or money order only are accepted (no CASH please) and must be written to BMCA, with the student's name as well as RVSAC written in the memo line The entry fee may be dropped off and competition canvases may be picked up at designated locations.

          Hours:  Mon-Sat  10:00 - 6:00 PM

If you cannot make it to one of the locations to drop off your entry fee and pick up a competition canvas, please contact us.  We have volunteers who are willing to meet at different locations and times to help get canvas to the community.

The theme of the competition is Animals of the Roanoke Valley.  All entries must be completed on specified 12 x 12" canvas, using any medium the student chooses, and must depict student's interpretation of the theme.

All completed art entries must be dropped off at one of the above locations by deadline, along with a completed entry form.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE is Friday, April 19, 2019.

All submissions will be displayed and put up for sale at the 2nd Helpings Gallery for two weeks .  50% of the sale proceeds go directly to the Rescue Mission, while the remaining 50% go to the student.

The awards ceremony and art reception will be held at 2nd Helpings on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 1 PM. 

 

Students (or a representative listed on the  entry form) MUST be present at the  reception in order to win.  If a student or designated representative is not present, the prize will go to the student with the next highest score.

All unsold artwork must be taken home by the student, or their representative, at the end of the reception.
